A New Look (and more things to come)
11 Jun 2006 | Angie H
I'm not very good at being cryptic, as my previous post proves... but here it is. The somewhat new design.
It's primarily a change in color palette - a lot more orange. But I also went with a wider format (was starting to feel constrained), a new footer area at the end of each page, and a new format for our portfolio section. The Soapbox went through some good improvements, mainly moving around various pieces. The links to outside articles have been moved to the bottom footer, as have the archives links. A lot of "fluff" has been removed as well, such as the resources links (which were compiled into one list here). One major change to the Soapbox was the decision to no longer allow comments on articles.
Primarily this was decided because it was getting a bit annoying with all the comment sp*m despite filters for it. But it was also because there just didn't seem to be a need for it. That's not to say comments won't be allowed on any particular article ever, but for now, comments are off.
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the new look and layout of the site. I'm pretty sure there will be tweaks to be made over the next several days or weeks. But that's just because I'm a perfectionist.
As for other things to come, obviously there'll be new posts (I've got a healthy list of topics to cover) and some new work to show. But we may also be adding a new feature for clients and other interested parties at the end of this month. That remains to be seen.
In the meantime, if you have any feedback on the site (including display bugs) or suggestions for article topics, please, let us know.
