How do I setup my email account in Microsoft Outlook?

To set up your POP3 email account in Microsoft Outlook, follow the below steps for each account you want to set up. (If you'd like to set up IMAP in Outlook, please .)

Note: These instructions use Microsoft Outlook 2007, but the steps for previous versions of Outlook are very similar. Please for any questions.

  1. In Outlook, go to Tools > Account Settings.

  2. Under the "E-mail" in the pop-up window, click on New....

  3. In the new pop-up window, make sure Microsoft Exhcange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP is selected. Then click Next.

  4. In the next screen, enter your name (or company name or whatever info you want shown with the email address you're setting up), email address and password in their respective fields. Then click Next.

  5. Outlook will then attempt to configure the accounts settings automatically. Generally Outlook will not correctly configure the account (see below screenshot). This is okay, just click Next.

  6. Outlook will attempt to configure the account again, this time unencrypted. This should work. If so, click Finish. If not, please .

  7. Once you've clicked Finish, you'll see your email accounts list again. Before closing this, let's make sure all your settings are correct. Start by highlighting/selecting the account you just set up. Then click Change...

  8. In the new window you'll see your accounts settings. Make sure they are similar to the below screenshot, replacing our URL and email account info with yours. Remember: your username for your email account is your full email address.

  9. Click Next. Then click Finish. Finally, close the Account Settings/List window (click the image to see larger version).
