Our Work

Totally Wireless

A new startup based out of Seattle, Totally Wireless is a retail outfit which sells mobile phone accessories. Having worked with the owner before on a website for his other company, he turned to us for the design of his startup's identity.

As with any logo/identity project, it's important that the logo be distinctive, easily understood and memorable. And since Totally Wireless is a startup, these things became that much more important. As we brainstormed ideas we looked to our own mobile phones for inspiration and one thing that was a bit of a forehead slapper was the use of symbols that we all see on our phones. While there are several, we honed in on the symbol that represents a cell tower and/or reception. We used that for the "y" in "totally" and went from there.

Any good brand needs to have a set of guidelines that set the standard for the company's visual identity. It doesn't stop with just a logo. With Totally Wireless we also created an Identity Style Guide. The style guide is a reference for the company that helps keep cohesion across the newly developed brand. It can include as little or as much detail as required by the client or as deemed appropriate for the company. For Totally Wireless, we included minimum logo sizes, alternate logos, color palette, typefaces and do's and don'ts for application. All these things help maintain a consistent brand across all media.
